 Each August, the Illinois Bar Journal features a summary of legislation passed by the Illinois General Assembly during the most recent spring session that may be of interest to ISBA members. Following each update is a link to the new public act’s or bill’s full text. The public acts are organized by area of law and are compiled by David Eldridge, who represents the Illinois State Bar Association before the General Assembly.

 About the Speaker: Paul is a national speaker and author. He coaches lawyers how to be more efficient with time management by offering customized workshops. When he isn’t speaking or writing, he is usually performing technology assessments throughout the United States and Canada. Paul began his career working for the Governor of Ohio, and then went on to law school. He practiced law for six years, specializing in litigation and bankruptcy, before starting a legal technology consulting company with partner Barron Henley in 2000. Paul’s superpowers are cleaning up messes and turning digital chaos into well-organized machines. His favorite part of his job is helping people get organized and focused so they can find more enjoyment in their lives and jobs.

National Conference of Bar Examiners Is Seeking Paid Participants for Prototype of NextGen Bar Exam

The National Conference of Bar Examiners is offering a $1,500 paid opportunity for July 2024 bar examinees!
 
In October 2024, the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) will conduct a nationwide prototype exam for the NextGen bar exam, which is currently under development. The prototype exam is a full-length, 9-hour pre-test over two days of the new bar exam question types and format that will debut in July 2026. The Illinois prototype exam will be held October 25-26, 2024 in Chicago, Champaign, and Carbondale.

The Conundrums of the Parentage Act

ISBA, IBF, and WBAI to Team Up for Race Judicata

The Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Bar Foundation, and Women’s Bar Association of Illinois are teaming up for three times the fun at Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS) 28th annual Race Judicata Sprint for Justice 5K Run/Walk/Party. This year's event takes place on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in Chicago’s Lincoln Park, 1746 N Stockton Drive.
