Supreme Court Rules Committee to Hold Public Hearings on November 15

The Illinois Supreme Court Rules Committee will hear comments on five proposals on November 15, 2023, at a public hearing beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, 222 N. LaSalle Street, 13th Floor, in Chicago. All proposals must be approved by the Illinois Supreme Court before they can take effect. The hearing will be livestreamed here

Illinois Courts Awarded $2.5 Million Adult Treatment Court Grant

The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC) announced today it was awarded a $2.5 million grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance as part of the Adult Treatment Court (ATC), Category 3, Statewide Discretionary Grant Program. The ATC is a competitive grant program that supports projects that improve, enhance, and expand adult treatment courts services statewide.

The Illinois Trial Team is in need of Central Illinois lawyers to judge the tournament on both Saturday (10/14) and Sunday (10/15).

 If, as scheduled, the federal gift and estate tax exemption is reduced by roughly 50 percent effective Jan. 1, 2026, how does that reduction affect federal estate taxes payable by decedents whose lifetime gifts exceed the available exemption at the time of death?
