Legislation to expand the legal definition of stalking in state statute could soon become law. Sponsors told WAND News this bill could help victims obtain a stalking no-contact order more easily if the victim feels under emotional distress.

Knowing how to detect and address deepfakes in an evidentiary context is an important skill that modern litigation attorneys need to master. Additionally, most lawyers aren’t sure if they should hire an outside expert, how to select that expert, what technology the expert will apply when determining authenticity, or what certainty the expert can bring to the case. These are complex questions because, just like cybersecurity, deepfake creation and deepfake detection are in an adversarial race.

 To streamline Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings, the Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019 created a new subchapter of Chapter 11 specifically geared toward small businesses: Subchapter V. As John W. Ryan notes in July Illinois Bar Journal article, “Avoiding Taxes on Phantom Income,” Subchapter V can be easier, cheaper, and quicker for small businesses. But it has some potential—and probably unintended—drawbacks.
