It is long-standing ISBA policy to keep the name, address and telephone number of inquirers strictly confidential.
ISBA Advisory Opinions on Professional Conduct are prepared as an educational service to members of ISBA. While the Opinions express the ISBA interpretation of the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct and other relevant materials in response to a specific hypothesized fact situation, they do not have the weight of law and should not be relied upon as a substitute for individual legal advice. Please be advised that the process for issuing a published advisory opinion is somewhat lengthy, usually taking a minimum of six months. The inquiry is assigned to a member of the Committee who proposes a response. If the Committee determines to issue an opinion, the draft is forwarded to the Board of Governors for final approval.
