Legislation
The Section Council reviewed 89 bills that may affect their members’ practice area. Highlights of the most recent legislative session include:
- House Bill 12 amends the Illinois Estate and Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax Act to increase the exclusion amount from $4,000,000 to $6,000,000 for persons dying on or after January 1, 2026.
- House Bill 3066 creates the Distressed Farmers Act.
- House Bill 3085 amends the Grocery Initiative Act by defining "independently owned" and "local ownership".
