Legislation
The Section Council reviewed 99 bills that may affect their members’ practice area. Highlights of the most recent legislative session include:
- Senate Bill 714 amends the Illinois Insurance Code to require advance notice of certain auto insurance rate increases, revise defensive driving course requirements, and establish a new framework governing automobile insurance rates, effective July 1, 2027.
- House Bill 4273 amends the Illinois Insurance Code to require advance notice of certain homeowners insurance rate increases and establish a new framework governing fire and extended coverage insurance rates, including Department of Insurance oversight, effective July 1, 2027.
