Illinois Supreme Court Announces Creation of Pretrial Accountability Task Force

The Illinois Supreme Court announced today the creation of a Pretrial Accountability Task Force (Task Force) to address the growing number of defendants on electronic monitoring and make system improvements in the arrest warrant (warrant) process. There are currently over 5,500 pretrial defendants presently being monitored electronically across Illinois.

Available Now-PMBR (2026-2027) Self-Assessment Program

On May 28th, 2026, the ARDC released a new PMBR Self-Assessment Program on its Online Learning Portal.  Pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court Rule 756(e), Illinois lawyers in private practice who do not maintain malpractice insurance are required to complete this four-hour Program as a 2027 attorney registration requirement.  In addition, all Illinois lawyers can complete the entire Program, or any module within the Program, for up to four hours of free MCLE professional responsibility credit.
