Charles H. Wilhelm 1935-2018

Charles H. Wilhelm, 83, of Lewistown, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at his home.

He was born Jan. 27, 1935, at Dunfermline, the son of William D. and Kathryn (Jenkins) Wilhelm. He married Connie Grzanich on Sept. 15, 1962, in Bryant. She survives along with three sons, Thomas Wilhelm of Canton, Charles Wilhelm of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Bill Wilhelm of Lewistown; five grandchildren, Ryan, Alana, Jesse, John and Jacqueline; and three great grandchildren, Lindsey, Rory and Jayce. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Charles graduated from Lewistown High School in 1952, served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Bradley University in 1958. He then attended Valparaiso Law School and graduated in 1962. He then joined the law firm of George Proctor in Lewistown, where he practiced until 1976. He then served as a 9th Judicial Circuit Judge until retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, of which he received the Distinguished Counselor award in 2012.

Charles enjoyed his small farm and the animals he considered pets. Above all he loved his family and country living.
