On May 6, 2026, new attorneys were admitted to practice law in Illinois across all five judicial districts. Justice Lisa Holder White administered the oath to 4new attorneys during 4th Judicial District ceremony at the Illinois Supreme Court Building, 200 East Capitol Avenue, in Springfield.
John Gabela, keynote speaker, gave remarks alongside speakers John Kim and Illinois State Bar Association Third Vice-President Heather McPherson.

On Friday, May 1, 2026, the Sangamon County Bar Association hosted its annual Law Day program at Maldaner’s restaurant, 222 S. 6th Street, Springfield. The speakers were Eugene Doherty, Illinois Fourth District Appellate Court, and Lance Peterson, Illinois Third Appellate Court. David J. Robinson, Chief Deputy Director, Illinois State's Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor's Office, served as the moderator for the program.
The 2026 Law Day theme was The Rule of Law and the American Dream.

The 43rd Annual Illinois State Bar Association High School Mock Trial Invitational took place on March 14-15, 2026, at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield. 56 high schools throughout Illinois participated.
First place went to Normal West High School from Normal.
Second place went to Timothy Christian High School from Elmhurst, and Niles West High School from Skokie received third place.
The Civility Award recipient was Kindi Academy from Lisle.
The Donna E. Schechter Memorial Law Test Award recipient was College Preparatory School of America (CPSA) from Lombard.

The Illinois Bar Foundation hosted its 2026 Lawyers Rock on March 4, 2026, at Bottom Lounge, 1375 W Lake St, in Chicago.
This year's winning band was Icy Bee, who ISBA Mutual Insurance Company sponsored!
Proceeds of this concert fundraiser benefited the statewide programs of the Illinois Bar Foundation as well as the juvenile justice causes supported by the M. Denny Hassakis Fund.

The ISBA Young Lawyers Division (YLD) hosted a Speed Networking and Wine Tasting event on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the ISBA Chicago Regional Office, 20 South Clark Street, Chicago. Young attorneys, newly admitted lawyers, and law students had a valuable opportunity to connect with and receive mentorship from an impressive group of accomplished attorneys, judges, and legal professionals from across Illinois. Conversations covered topics such as securing a first job, exploring various career paths, and maximizing ISBA membership benefits.
Following Speed Networking, attendees enjoyed an evening wine tasting featuring a curated selection of wines led by a knowledgeable wine expert. The relaxed setting provided additional opportunities for meaningful networking. Proceeds from the Wine Tasting supported the YLD Children’s Assistance Fund, which awards grants to Illinois organizations serving children and advancing law-related initiatives.
