On Thursday, June 5, 2025, ISBA members and their guests attended President Bridget C. Duignan’s Welcome Celebration at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort, Ten Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire, IL. Attendees enjoyed food and entertainment, including a magic show, as well as the Family Zone, which featured a balloon artist, face painter, and games.

Justice Joy V. Cunningham and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced the appointment of Michael Cabonargi as an At-Large Circuit Judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County.
Mr. Cabonargi is being appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Mary Ellen Coglan. Mr. Cabonargi’s appointment is effective June 13, 2025, and will conclude on December 7, 2026.

We are pleased to announce the Hon. Louis G. Apostol, Public Administrator of Cook County, has been re-elected Vice President to the Hellenic Foundation of Chicago. The Hellenic Foundation has granted more than $20,000,000 to not-for-profit organizations in the Chicago Area. Mr. Apostol formerly served as the Executive Director & General Counsel to the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board and as a Commissioner/Trial Judge on the Illinois Court of Claims.

The Judicial Council of the Seventh Circuit seeks applications from all qualified applicants
to fill up to three positions as a bankruptcy judge for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the
Northern District of Illinois with a duty station in Chicago, Illinois. The positions will be available
in early 2026. Applicants must be willing to travel to other locations in the Seventh Circuit to
handle cases as need arises. The term of office is 14 years, and the current salary is $227,608. -
