Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Jane Theis has begun an application process for a judicial vacancy in the Fourth Judicial Subcircuit of Cook County.

The vacancy is created by the retirement of the Hon. Thomas Davy.

Under the Illinois Constitution, judicial vacancies are filled on an interim basis by Supreme Court appointment. Justice Theis will make recommendations to the Supreme Court after applicants undergo a screening and evaluation process.

The vacancy will be created by the upcoming retirement of the Hon. Camille E. Willis, effective January 29, 2017.

The Illinois State Bar Association's Lawyer Finder Service provides referrals to local lawyers Mondays through Fridays. The Service makes referrals in a number of areas of law. Michael J. Tardy, Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, announced today that the Ninth Judicial Circuit judges voted to select James G. Baber and Anthony W. Vaupel as associate judges of the Ninth Judicial Circuit.

Mr. Baber received his undergraduate degree in 1983 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL and his Juris Doctor in 1986 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. Mr. Baber is currently affiliated with Whitman & Baber in Monmouth, IL.

Advancing technology has often raised ethical issues for attorneys. Not so long ago, email was suspect. Could lawyers use it to communicate securely with clients?

Justice Rita B. Garman and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced the appointment of Charles C. Hall as a Circuit Judge in the Fifth Judicial Circuit.

Mr. Hall has been appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Claudia Anderson. His appointment takes effect on March 1, 2017, and concludes on December 3, 2018, when the position will be filled by the 2018 General Election.
