J. Patrick Fitzsimmons and Brenda J. Robinson have joined Baker & Daniels LLP as new partners in the law firm's Chicago office. Fitzsimmons concentrates his transactional practice in health care, medical device, biotech and life sciences. He represents public and private clients, boards of directors, diverse individuals, physicians and nonprofit entities in a wide array of matters, including licensing and clinical trials. Robinson focuses her practice in the area of intellectual property, including trademarks, copyrights, e-business and technology, and is a member of the firm's sports and entertainment practice. Before joining Baker & Daniels, Fitzsimmons spent nearly six years practicing with various boutique life sciences and health care focused law firms. From 1987 through 2005, he served in roles of increasing responsibility at Baxter Healthcare and its affiliates, including lead SEC, M&A, Finance, Audit, Treasury, PR and IT/IS lawyer for Baxter International Inc. He was a founding member of Baxter Capital Corporation, its customer finance arm. A Colorado native, Fitzsimmons earned his law degree from Loyola University School of Law in 1984 after graduating cum laude from the University of Colorado with a bachelor's degree in business and finance. He is also a director of, and pro bono General Counsel to, CNE/Childcare Network of Evanston, an Early Head Start 501(c)(3) recipient organization, in Evanston, where he resides with his family. Fitzsimmons earned his law degree from Loyola University School of Law in 1984 after graduating cum laude from the University of Colorado with a bachelor's degree in business and finance. Robinson has provided legal counsel in the area of sports and entertainment, as well as in the music and film industry, to numerous artists, musicians, authors, arts organizations, athletes and entertainers in issues involving contract negotiation and preparation, artist management agreements, letters of intent, music publishing and co-publishing agreements, and private offering memoranda in connection with film financing. A Chicago native, Robinson graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2003 and also earned a Certificate in Business and Public Policy from the Wharton School. She earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Michigan. Robinson speaks Spanish, French and Italian.
