McCluskey wins 3rd VP and full results of the ISBA election

James McCluskeyJames F. McCluskey of Lisle won the race for third vice-president of the Illinois State Bar Association, and Jessica A. O’Brien of Chicago, Kent A. Gaertner of Wheaton, Rory T. Weiler of St. Charles, and Dennis J. Orsey of Granite City won contested races for seats on the ISBA Board of Governors. Sonni Choi Williams of Peoria and Charles Davis of Springfield won uncontested Board seats.

II.  As a matter of record the Bylaws of the Association provide for the automatic succession of all three vice presidents.  Therefore, Umberto S. Davi of Western Springs will succeed to the office of President, Vincent F. Cornelius of Wheaton will succeed to the office of President-Elect, and Russell W. Hartigan of Western Springs will succeed to the office of Second Vice President.

III.  The Executive Director has advised the Tellers that in the instances below, the races were uncontested (candidates filing equaled or were less than the number of candidates to be elected). Each candidate is therefore, pursuant to the Bylaws of the Association, automatically elected.

IV.       The Tellers, assisted by VR Election Services, identified the following:

The rate of return: 14.8%

  • 91% voted electronically
  • 9% voted by paper

46 members receiving e-ballots requested paper ballots

41 members receiving paper ballots voted electronically 

Abstained votes:

311 – Third Vice President

158 – Board of Governors (Cook County and Areas 1, 3 and 8)

Duplicate Ballots:

­­­One member attempted to cast votes by the web as well as by mail. 

The first ballot cast was counted; the duplicate ballot was not counted.
