Thomas as attorney and continuing legal education (CLE) manager.  Ms. Thomas is a third-generation lawyer with years of legal experience in the fields of criminal defense and civil litigation.

In addition to serving as an attorney for nearly 10 years handling criminal defense and civil litigation matters, Ms. Thomas earned a master’s degree in elementary education from DePaul University.  She has served as a substitute and temporary assigned teacher, filling in for teachers on leave, for Chicago Public Schools since 2010.  

Debra Thomas earned her bachelor’s degree in English, language and literature at the University of Michigan before pursuing a law degree from Chicago–Kent College of Law.  While a law student, Thomas received the Bar & Gavel Society Award for outstanding service to the school, students and community and she served as the editor of the school newspaper for two years.  Ms. Thomas is actively involved with the Illinois State Bar Association, having edited the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) newsletter for 10 years while a YLD member, as well as helping plan continuing legal education seminars such as the Solo & Small Firm Practice Institute Series.
