Norman F. Cone 1925-2016

Norman F. Cone, age 91, passed away Monday, October 24, in Seal Beach, CA. Norman was born on May 12, 1925, in Chicago, IL, to Dorothea and Maurice Cone. He attended Benton Harbor (MI) High School. He then was a tech sergeant during World War II in Europe. After the war, he attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and then earned a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola of Chicago Law School.

Norman first lived with his family in Park Forest, IL, where he frequently walked to the train station in Matteson for work as a title officer at Chicago Title & Trust. In 1966, he moved with his family to Waukegan, IL, where he worked in the title company's office there. He later entered private practice in Chicago and Waukegan, retiring in 1993. He served as the legal counsel for the Waukegan school district. He lived for 20 years in Peoria, AZ, serving on Westbrook Village's Board of Directors and on the City of Peoria Board of Adjustment. Since January 2014, he lived at retirement facilities in California.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nanette Cone; one sister, Ethel Gelder; one son, Allen Cone (Ronda); one daughter, Marla Cone (Dan Weikel); three grandchildren, Brian and Benjamin Cone, Chris Weikel; and one great-grandchild, Ronnie Rose Cone. Services at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov.11 - Veterans Day - at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. Donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
