Judge Kenneth Meyers

Judge Kenneth J. Meyers, 74, of Mount Vernon, Ill., died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at his home in Mount Vernon. He was born February 25, 1944, in Gary, Ind., to Charles J. and Luella (Krone) Meyers. 

He first married Susan Robbins on June 19, 1965, in Mattoon, Ill., and she preceded him in death on October 24, 2012. He later married Mindy E. (Bumpus) Koch on December 14, 2013, in Mount Vernon, and she survives.

Judge Meyers is survived by his wife, Mindy E. Meyers of Mount Vernon; daughter, Angela Kniery and husband, Dr. Paul Kniery of Bowling Green, Ky.; son, Greg Meyers of Edwardsville, Ill.; five grandchildren, Sam Kniery, Joe Kniery, Bridget Kniery, Alex Meyers, and Evan Meyers; stepsons, Kraig Koch and wife, Ashley of Chicago, Ill. and Brian Edward “Ed” Koch of Saint Louis, Mo.; brothers, Terry Meyers and wife, Darla of Kankakee, Ill. and Bill Meyers and wife, Carolyn of North Carolina; sister, Betty Logan of Effingham, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first wife, Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Charles and Jimmy Meyers.

Judge Meyers worked as a United States Magistrate Judge in 1975 and as the Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge in 1986.  He was a member of the Mount Vernon Elks (B.P.O.E.) Lodge 819 and Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was dearly loved, much respected, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Sorry to hear of his death.  He was a great Judge and person.  Always treated people with respect.
