ISBA Now Accepting Applications and Nominations for 2020 Leadership Academy

The ISBA is now accepting applications and nominations for the 2020 Leadership Academy.

This landmark program is designed to train the next generation of professionals to become effective leaders in the Illinois legal community.

The ISBA will accept as many as 20 candidates this year. ISBA members with three to 10 years of legal practice experience are eligible to participate.

After completing the academy, each member will be appointed to a section council or committee of their choice.

In a recent interview with the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, ISBA President David Sosin spoke of the need to train young legal professionals to become future bar leaders.

“We found over the years that lawyers in law school learn a lot of skills, but leadership is not a class taught in law school,” Sosin told the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. “It’s important to us as a bar association that we bring our young lawyers leadership training, so we are training leaders of our association.”

Academy members will be notified by early November 2019 if they are selected. Tuition is $750 for each participant.

Applications will close on Oct. 18. Additional information and application instructions are available online.
