It is good to have multiple candidates for third vice-president. All other positions have candidates. However, their are only a handful of contested positions after much consternation on the lack of interest and participation in Assembly meetings. Was there active recruitment to fill the slots this time? I still support reduction in size of the Assembly and Board of Governors as suggested by the Special Committee on Governance.  James T. James--I share your concern re: a general lack of interest of our membership in seeking positions on the Assembly.  While it isn't a cosmic change, at least we have more candidates this time for Cook County than vacancies to fill: 23 people running for 21 positions.  With this slight improvement, at least there is no need for appointments to fill the open vacancies as we've had to do in many past years.
