Robert E. Dodd, 73, of Alexandria, Ind., formerly of Mattoon, died Friday (September 24, 2004) at Williamsburg Village, Muncie, Ind.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria with Rev. Fr. Robert Williams officiating. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

He was born October 8, 1930, in Mattoon, son of Vernie N. and Reba Knapp Dodd. He married Margaret Shepardson in 1955; she survives. Other survivors include one son, David Dodd and one daughter, Brenda Ambrose, both of Anderson, Ind.; three sisters, Judy Carter of Mattoon, Jean Sullivan of Cleveland, Ohio, and Evelyn Wilson of Danville; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Mr. Dodd worked in the retail business and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Memorials may be made to the Exchange Club Family Resource Center, Anderson, Ind.
