John J. McNichols 1927-2020

John "Mac" McNichols, 93, formerly Elmhurst and Willowbrook, passed away on Dec. 9, 2020.

A decorated World War II Navy veteran, accomplished attorney, and former Illinois state representative, Mac was a man of quiet wisdom, great wit, and total devotion to family. Born in Chicago to Joseph and Genevieve McNichols, he grew up in Berwyn where he met the love of his life, the late Lois Jeane (nee Ondesco). They raised three children during their loving 62-year marriage.

Mac received both his undergraduate and law degrees from Loyola University and was a respected workers' compensation attorney in Chicago for 40 years. He served in the Illinois House of Representatives in the mid-1960s and was also a past president of the Workers' Compensation Lawyers Association. His greatest joy, however, was his family. Even into his 90s, Mac didn't miss a graduation, birthday, or a grandchild's special moment. He was also a man of great faith who led by example.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary (Patrick Tallon), and his son, John Patrick (the late Michelle). He is survived by his daughter, Megan (David, MD) Mahon; his grandchildren, John (Danielle) Tallon, Sean (fiancee Natasha Milikhiker), Caylee, and Scott Mahon; great-grandson, Owen Tallon; sisters, Margaret (the late Richard) Little and Roberta (Doug) Luster; and many nieces and nephews.
