Charles D. Mockbee III 1947-2021

Charles D. "Chuck" Mockbee III, age 74, passed away on February 23, 2021.

Chuck was born on February 6, 1947. He grew up in the Jamesburg and Henning Illinois area, graduating from the Bismarck-Henning High School. Chuck attended Northern Illinois University and then received his Juris Doctorate Degree from the John Marshall Law School, becoming a member of the Illinois Bar in 1975.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy, three sons, Eric (Becky), Charles IV (Rebecca), and Matthew (Lacy) Mockbee, four grandsons, Connor, Colton, Jonah, and Matson. He is also survived by one brother, Ronald (Janet) Mockbee and two sisters, Gloria Crippin and Janice Mockbee.

Chuck represented District 2 on the Vermilion County Board, served as Blount township Assessor and as a Precinct Committeemen, having spent many years prior as a Bismarck-Henning School Board Member. He attended CrossRoads Christian Church and was a Member of the Bismarck Lions Club. Chuck enjoyed reading history, including his genealogy, and watching University of Illinois Sports.

Chuck will be greatly missed by his family, friends, clients and the community he served.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 1, 2021 at CrossRoads Christian Church 3613 N Vermilion Street Danville, IL 61832. Miles Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Sunday February 28, 2021 at CrossRoads Christian Church. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.

It is kindly requested that those in attendance of the visitation or services wear a mask and practice social distancing.
