Illinois Supreme Court Seeks Attorneys for Volunteer Pro Bono Program for Criminal Appeals

The Illinois Supreme Court’s Volunteer Pro Bono Program for Criminal Appeals currently has cases available in all five appellate districts that have complete records available and are ready to be briefed.

Attorneys who meet eligibility criteria can submit a volunteer application to the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts.

For attorneys who lack appellate experience, but otherwise meet program eligibility criteria, OSAD offers a free 5-week online training course for attorneys on criminal law and procedure. Attorneys completing the free course are expected to accept a case assignment following the training. The course has a flexible schedule and offers 11.25 hours of MCLE credit. The next two training programs are scheduled from April 5 - May 7, 2021 and July 12 - August 13, 2021. Attorneys may register for either course by emailing probono@osad.state.il.us and you can find full details about the training course here.
