Enter the Illinois Bar Journal Creative Writing Contest

The past year has tested our health, patience, and resolve. So, why not blow off some steam by entering the Illinois Bar Journal’s Creative Writing Contest?

Send us your poems, short stories, creative essays, or other forms of written expression capturing the essence of lawyering during the COVID-19 pandemic and we’ll pick a finalist who will receive a gift card and whose winning submission will be printed in an upcoming issue of the Illinois Bar Journal.

The rules are simple:

  • Submissions must not exceed 1,000 words.
  • Please gravitate toward uplifting perspectives, wit, and appropriate humor.
  • Send your submission to psherman@isba.org by 4:30 p.m. on June 30.

Important Disclosures: This contest is sponsored by the Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Bar Center, 424 S. Second St., Springfield, IL 62701. Only ISBA members are eligible to participate in this contest. Prize may be taxable to the extent provided by law. The estimated odds of winning this prize depends on the number of entries. Entries must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. June 30, 2021. Winner will be notified via email within 5 business days after the drawing. Prize may not be exchanged or transferred. If you are unable or unwilling to accept your prize, ISBA reserves the right to select another winner for that prize.
