Paul M. Levy, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2022, with his wife and son at his side.

Paul was born in Chicago to Sylvia and Adolph Levy on December 22, 1935. He grew up in the South Shore neighborhood and went to Hyde Park High School. He then moved on to undergraduate school in Ohio, graduating from Bowling Green State University. Paul then returned to Chicago to attend law school at DePaul University. Paul enjoyed a 50-plus year career litigating First Amendment issues, all of which were at his own firm of Deutsch, Levy & Engel.

Not a fan of technology, Paul preferred telephones to email or texts, and pen and legal pad to write briefs. He did love Promontory Point, the East Bank Club, driving in the countryside of Italy, and attending Sunday afternoon Chicago White Sox games with his family.

He is survived by his wife Annemarie “Dee”, children Ethan, Janice (Scott) McClure, Steven (Lisa) Levy, and Sharon (Richard) Rosenthal; grandchildren Daniel (Kayleen Weinandt), Julia and Sarah McClure; Matthew, Rachel, Kevin and the late Faith Levy; Andrew, Jason and Brendan Rosenthal; and great grandchildren Bradley Tyker Norris, Jaxx Anthony Salas and Ariana Phillips; and brother Jack (Theresa) Levy.
