David Tallant Jr. 1931 - 2022

David Tallant Jr., age 91, died peacefully at home on May 12, 2022.

He was predeceased by his wife, Beryle S. Tallant, two sisters, and one brother. His is survived by his children, David Tallant III, Catherine T. VanDemerkt, and Elizabeth T. Dickey, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was born in Oak Park, IL, and grew up in River Forest, IL. He graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School in 1949, Claremont Men's College (CA) in 1953, and Duke Law School in 1956.

After graduating from law school, he joined the law firm of Chapman & Cutler (Chicago, IL) where he primarily practiced banking and financing law. In addition to the firm's principle banking client, Harris Bank, he represented and handled legal matters for other banks, including several foreign banks with branches in the U.S. He acted as special counsel for many multi-bank lending syndicates.

He was listed in "Who's Who in American Law" and "Who's Who in America." His principle recreational activities were golf, curling, fishing, and swimming; in which he was often joined by his late wife and his children. He described his golf game as "mediocre a best," but he enjoyed the challenge of the game, his golfing partners, and the opportunity to play such notable venues as Pebble Beach, Pinehurst #2, Murfield, and Augusta National. He was a member of Skokie Country Club (Glencoe, IL) and the Country Club of Florida (Village of Golf, FL) where he and his wife maintained a winter home. He was also a member of The Chicago Athletic Association and the Monroe Club (Chicago, IL).

A private memorial for family will be held at a future date.
