Pretrial Implementation Task Force to Host Town Hall Meetings on September 16, 29

The Illinois Supreme Court Pretrial Implementation Task Force (Task Force) will host its third and fourth town hall meetings on September 16 and 29 at noon via Zoom.

The topic of this town hall meeting will be Pre-first Appearance Activities pursuant to the Pretrial Fairness Act (PFA). The topic of the September 16 town hall meeting will be Evidence-based Pretrial Assessments. On September 29, the town hall meeting will discuss Practical Guidance for Pretrial Fairness Act (PFA) Implementation.

Town hall meetings update stakeholders and the community on the work of the Task Force as it prepares for the changes coming when the PFA goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2023, and provide the opportunity to answer questions regarding the PFA. The PFA, legislation passed as part of Public Act 101-652, abolishes the use of cash bail in pretrial release decisions as of Jan. 1 and establishes new processes for pretrial release and detention decisions.

Future town hall meetings are typically scheduled for the third Thursday of the month at noon and are set for October 20 and November 17.
