Virginia “Ginny” Robinson Bolen 1937 - 2022

On August 18, 2022, Virginia "Ginny" Robinson Bolen passed away at the age of 85 at her home in Chicago, Illinois.

Ginny was born January 19, 1937, in Denver, Colorado, and grew up there. She received her BA from Vassar College in 1958 and her JD from the University of Denver College of Law in 1961. She practiced with the Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Denver from 1962-68, and then was with the law firm of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro in San Francisco from 1968-72.

In 1972, Ginny married Waldo E. (Pat) Bolen of Morris, IL, moved to Morris, and was with the law firm of Mayer Brown and Platt in Chicago from 1972-81.

Ginny is survived by her loving niece, Robin O'Hare, and Robin's daughter, Winter Alexis Woolley, by her nephew, Michael Patrick McGroarty, his wife Naomi Valdez and their children, Jordan McGroarty and Riley McGroarty, by her cousin, Kimbrough Street, and by many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat, by her parents, Virginia Thorp Robinson and Lloyd W. Robinson, and by her sister, Saralee McGroarty Coombes.

Ginny was active in, and devoted to, International Women Associates (IWA), Chicago, and was a board member for many years. She was also a member of the Chicago Vassar Club, the Union League Club of Chicago, the Fortnightly of Chicago, and the Garden of the Gods Club and the Kissing Camels Women's Club, Colorado Springs.
