Judge Nancy Drew Sheehan 1942 - 2022

Judge Nancy Drew Sheehan passed away peacefully at Terra Vista Memory Care of Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Nancy was born in Chicago, daughter of the late Drew Sheehan and late Anne, nee McFadden, Sheehan. Nancy graduated from Mother McAuley Catholic High School and St. Mary’s of Notre Dame.

Following graduation, Nancy began her teaching career on Chicago’s Northwest side at Taft High School. Nancy continued her own education earning a degree from John Marshall Law School and began her career as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the family court division. Nancy proved herself to become a very accomplished professional throughout her life. She was elected a Commissioner of the Cook County Water Reclamation District in 1982. She served for 12 years holding positions as Board Vice President, Chairman of Finance, and Chairman of the MWRD Credit Union. Nancy ran for Illinois State Treasurer in 1994 before serving on the bench as a judge in Cook County Circuit Court for 10 years leading up to her retirement.

Following retirement Nancy would enjoy time spent between Naples, Florida winters and Chicago summers. Nancy was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and as her health declined became a resident of Terra Vista Memory Care in 2018.

Nancy’s legacy lives on in the many cousins, friends, and colleagues that were touched by her compassion, friendship, accomplishments, and love.
