Court Operations Resume at Michael A. Bilandic Building Following Elevator Repairs
The Michael A. Bilandic Building is re-opening today as the elevators were returned to service following repairs over the weekend. The State Fire Marshal inspected the site this morning and certified the elevators now meet all code and safety requirements.
The Illinois Supreme Court suspended in-person operations of the Supreme Court and the First District Appellate Court on January 18 at the Bilandic Building due to ongoing elevator renovations impacting the safety of court employees and building visitors. During this time some court work was moved to the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts building at 222 N. LaSalle Street while other tasks, including oral arguments, were handled remotely.
The Court would like to thank the Office of the Governor for its assistance in a timely resolution of this matter.
