Richard E. Favoriti, age 79 of Naperville, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully, on February 26, 2023 at Edward Hospital in Naperville surrounded by his loving family.

Dearly beloved and devoted husband of Gail A. Favoriti, nee Frain. Devoted father and mentor of Jeffery T. (Meagan) Castle, II. Cherished "Pi" of Alayna and Dylan Castle. Dear son-in-law of Frances and the late Gregory Frain. Richard was predeceased by his loving parents, Emil and Derna Favoriti and his dear sister Linda (Steve) Coons. Loving brother-in-law of Michael (Rhonda) Frain, Carl (Laura) Frain, Julie (Bob) Jostes, Joyce (Chris) Maul, and Cathy (Dan Estrada) Frain as well as Joey Madonia, Jeff (Sandy) Madonia, Christine (Michael) Doyle, Michael (Ana) Madonia, and Antoinette (Bill) Buckner. Fond uncle of LCDR Jason (Haley) Coons, USN, Stephanie Frain, Nicole (Joe) Lewandowski, Michael Frain, Carly Frain, Katie (the late Andy) Lein, Jennifer (Kenny) Kolerich, Eric Maul, Matthew Maul, and Caitlin (Andy) Putz as well as Letitia (Jonathan) McBurney, Billy Curry, Michelle (JP) Palma, Crystal (Zoltan) Bodor, Jessica Madonia, Christopher Snider, Heather (Jess) Doyle, Brittney Doyle, and Tyler Buckner. And, many loving cousins.

Richard attended grammar school at St. Vincent DePaul and went on to high school at DePaul Academy. He received his undergraduate degree from DePaul University and then earned his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law. While Richard anticipated his impending service in the Vietnam War, he postponed entering the practice of law. He was offered an opportunity to teach 6th grade at Hauser Jr. H.S. (1968-69). As a result, he enjoyed many lifelong friendships. Richard entered the U.S. Army, as a Specialist 6th Class, JAG Attachment. Richard entered private practice with a focus on products liability, food and drug, and regulatory law, also serving as Adjunct Professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law and DePaul University College of Law. He served on numerous commissions and boards throughout his career.

Richard had a life-long passion for reading – the more books, the better. In his younger years, he enjoyed participating in the martial arts, running marathons, and participating in sports, including winning the Catholic Championship for high hurdles in high school. Later in life, Richard enjoyed attending theology classes, Tai Chi, and had a love for nature and animals. He enjoyed watching the butterflies and hummingbirds in our backyard in the gardens he created for that very purpose. From an early age, Richard had a great devotion to his Catholic faith and served the Lord in many ways throughout his life. He was a great friend and mentor to all who knew him. If you met Richard – you had a friend for life. He was a kind, loving, and compassionate man who loved and cared for his family beyond measure. He will be cherished in our hearts for eternity.
