Richard F. Kotz 1940-2023

Richard F. "Dick" Kotz, 82. Cherished husband of 58 years to Debora S. "Debby," nee Locke; beloved father of Kenneth (Tue) Kotz, David (Laurie) Kotz, and the late Andrew (late Debra) Kotz; proud grandfather of Aaron (John Chiano), Sara, Samantha, Stephen, and Adam Kotz; devoted son of the late Arthur and Selma; dear nephew of the late Adeline Zeldman; caring brother-in-law of Judith Locke, Ruth Selzer, and the late Richard (Roberta Sue) Locke; loving uncle of many.

Dick was an accomplished corporate and securities attorney but was most proud of his pro-bono work. He was actively involved in healthcare policy, and served for 20 years as a lay advisor during the rollout of the CHIP program. He was past president and sat on the board of several organizations, including but not limited to: Mental Health America of Illinois, Mental Health America of the Northern Suburbs, the Illinois ADA Project, and the American Jewish Committee. He was a two-term trustee of the Village of Glencoe.

Dick was an avid traveler, reader, and learner, often found at the Newbury Library and many cultural institutions. Above all, he adored his family. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Jewish Committee or Mental Health America of Illinois.
