2024 Lincoln Award Legal Writing Contest Winners Announced

The 2024 first place winner of the Lincoln Award Legal Writing Contest is Morgan Handwerker, an associate at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP, Chicago, who wrote “Practicing in a New World.” Morgan's article appeared in the February issue of the Illinois Bar Journal.

Second place is Donna Etemadi, a data privacy and cybersecurity attorney, who serves as a legal consultant, wrote “Decoding the Dilemma of Deepfakes.”

Third place goes to Jessica Pullen, of Peoria, associate at Heyl, Royster, Voelker & Allen, for “Social Service: Illinois Supreme Court Rule Allows Service Via Social Media, Text, and Email.” 

The first, second, and third-place winners received $2,500, $1,500, and $1,000, respectively. They were among 18 manuscripts submitted in the 2024 contest, which was sponsored by the ISBA Young Lawyers Division and open to YLD lawyer members.

Contest judges included Hon. Terrence J. Lavin, Chicago; Hon. Michelle A. Vescogni, Ottawa; Adam B. Lawler, Marion; Howard L. Huntington, Chicago; and Michelle D. Porro, Aurora.
