Notice of Assembly Vacancies

Consistent with the ISBA Election Policy and Procedures, below is the formal process for those interested in filling vacant seats in the Assembly for a three-year term beginning June 5, 2025. The procedure is as follows:

1.    Identify Vacancy. Please refer to the list of vacancies shown by judicial circuit that is provided at the end of this notice.

2.    File Vacancy Nomination Petition. Within 21 days of the posting of this “Notice of Assembly Vacancies” on the ISBA website (i.e., by July 15, 2025), interested candidates must fill out a Vacancy Nominating Petition on the ISBA website. In addition, within 21 days of the posting of this “Notice of Assembly Vacancies,” the Vacancy Nominating Petition must be electronically signed by at least ten (10) active ISBA members whose ISBA addresses are within the judicial circuit of the vacant Assembly seat (the “nominating period”). Paper or faxed Petitions will not be accepted.

The deadline for completion of the electronic nominating petitions process for candidates is 4:30 p.m. on July 15, 2025.

3.    Declaring Elected Candidates. At the close of the 21-day nominating period, candidates who filed Vacancy Nominating Petitions and obtained the appropriate number of signatures will be declared elected when there are candidates equal to or fewer than the number of vacancies in the applicable circuit. Successful candidates will be notified promptly. If there are more candidates than vacancies in a circuit, the Board of Governors will fill the vacancies by election at its next meeting.
