Arlette Porter Appointed to ISBA Board of Governors Underrepresented Seat

ISBA President Bridget Duignan appointed Arlette Porter to the underrepresented seat on the Board of Governors on June 5, 2025. She will serve a three-year term. Porter is an active ISBA member and member of the Family Law Section Council for 20 years. 

Throughout her two decades as an ISBA member, Porter has also served on the Agenda and Programming Committee; Budget and Finance Committee; and Assembly Governance Committee, and various other Section Councils, Standing Committees, and Subcommittees. 

Porter is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois Bar Foundation, and National Bar Association.

She earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the John Marshall Law School, in Chicago. Porter earned her Master of Science degree in Education from Chicago State University. She was admitted to the Northern District of Illinois, 2005; United States Supreme Court, 2009; and Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, 2014. 


Founded in 1877, the Illinois State Bar Association is the premier legal association in the state. As a voluntary organization of more than 28,000 members, the Association aims to assist Illinois lawyers in the practice of law and to promote improvements in the administration of justice.
