Constitution Day 2025: How To Participate

Constitution Day marks the birth of American democracy: when the foundational rules of our rights and freedoms were signed into law. It’s more than history; it’s a call to action. On September 17, the ISBA is joining the Task Force for American Democracy in reaffirming our commitment to the Constitution and the Rule of Law.

Our Constitution is a founding document that turned the rights, freedoms, and principles that we value into a country for everyone. It belongs to everyone, works for everyone, and must be preserved by everyone.

To celebrate the signing of the Constitution and the nation it promised, the Task Force for American Democracy has invited all dedicated individuals across the nation to reaffirm their commitment to the Constitution and the Rule of Law by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance or reading the preamble of the Constitution aloud, on video, and on social media.

Whether you’re a lawyer, educator, organization, or individual, this simple but powerful act connects us all to the foundational ideas of our democracy, and that we’re ready to protect what matters.

For Lawyers

Retake the Oath

The attorney oath is the cornerstone of your profession, and it represents your promise to support the Constitution of the United States. It encompasses a duty to defend the Constitution, protect constitutional rights, ensure due process, and oppose laws or actions that undermine it. By retaking the oath, you reiterate your role as a guardian of the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law. Read more.
