Illinois Supreme Court Appoints Associate Judge Julia Yetter as Sixteenth Circuit Court Judge

Justice Elizabeth M. Rochford and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced the appointment of Associate Judge Julia Ann Yetter as an At Large Circuit Judge in the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit, Kane County.

Judge Yetter is being appointed to fill the vacancy created by the impending retirement of Judge Kevin T. Busch on January 29, 2026. The appointment is effective February 2, 2026, and will conclude on December 4, 2028.

Judge Yetter has served on the bench as an Associate Judge in the Sixteenth Circuit since being appointed in 2018 and was most recently assigned to the Felony and Special Court Division. She served as chairperson for the Kane County SAFE-T Act Task Force which worked towards the development of the new criminal justice policy and procedures now in place in Kane County. Judge Yetter previously served as an Assistant Public Defender in Kane County.

Judge Yetter earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law.
