Michelle J. Rozovics Appointed to Remote Access Task Force
In late 2025, the Illinois Supreme Court approved the Judicial Branch’s 2026-2028 Strategic Agenda. The agenda was developed by the Illinois Judicial Conference (IJC), the body charged with strategic planning for the Judicial Branch. It provides a blueprint for the work of the branch over the next three years.
To implement the agenda, the IJC has adopted a one-year operational plan that identifies ten initiatives for 2026. Each initiative is assigned to an existing Supreme Court committee or to an IJC task force created to work on the initiative. The 2026 strategic initiatives are as follows:
- Access to Legal Services in Legal Deserts
- Strengthening Juvenile Detention Practices
- Evaluation and Expansion of Court-Annexed Alternative Dispute Resolution
- Best Practices for Emerging Adults in the Justice System
- Supporting Effective Judicial Branch Engagement with Other Branches of Government
- Remote Access to Court Services
- Engaging the Public Through Civics Education
- Access to and Meaningful Participation in Family Law Cases
- Supporting the Court User Experience
- Strengthening Communities Through Restorative Justice Practices
A vetting process was undertaken by the IJC and senior Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC) staff to identify the most qualified individuals to serve on these multi-disciplinary task forces.
Michelle J. Rozovics, Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) Section Council Chair for Civil Practice and Procedure, has been selected to serve on the new Remote Access Task Force, comprised of members of the AOIC, members of the judiciary, and practicing lawyers, including other fellow ISBA members. During the most recent bar year, Rozovics chaired ISBA’s Joint Subcommittee on SCR45 Remote Access Compliance, operating under the auspices of the Civil Practice & Procedure Section Council and Disability Standing Committee to identify issues Illinois lawyers, parties, and witnesses have experienced in accessing court hearings remotely.
The Remote Access Task Force will help to ensure a more just, equitable, and practical justice system in the future.
