Wellbeing of Caregivers in the Legal Profession

Wellbeing of Caregivers in the Legal Profession
Studies continue to find that the legal profession is not doing enough to support caregivers – and now is a critical time to address these needs. This seminar explores the demands on caregivers and identifies the necessary systems changes. This seminar is intended for anyone who may be a position of caregiving while practicing law: a young lawyer with a new family, an attorney who is faced with caring for an ailing spouse or elderly parents, and any caregiving demands in between. Topics include: the results of recent studies on the legal careers of caregivers; the positive and negative experiences of caregivers, including real-life examples shared by practicing lawyers; the resources available to prevent burn-out, including “The Motherhood Squeeze”; how to promote the well-being of all caregiving lawyers at the individual, group, and systems level; and the systems changes designed to benefit caregivers, including how leadership can establish and support family-friendly policies and how the profession can strengthen wellness and mental health resources.
