Key Changes in Illinois Employment Law

In his April Illinois Bar Journal article, “Key Changes in Illinois Employment Law,” Bamdad Shams details a wave of new laws that have fundamentally transformed compensation transparency, personnel record access, payroll documentation, and the use of artificial intelligence in employment for Illinois employers. While many of these laws became effective in 2025, Shams shows how 2026 amendments to the Workplace Transparency Act, Victims’ Economic Security and Safety Act, and the Illinois Human Rights Act create further obligations for severance negotiations, device access procedures, and civil penalty exposure.
