Novak, of Chicago, at a kickoff Wednesday announcing “Project 225” at the Illinois Supreme Court building in Springfield. This project is a special program starting the week of September 17 whereby scores of state judges will deliver 225 classroom presentations at high school civics classes statewide to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. Chief Justice Thomas L. Kilbride, other Supreme Court justices, government officials, and bar leaders joined Judge Novak, and members of the association, in a ceremony to explain the program and its objectives, emphasizing the Constitution’s history and contemporary relevance.

The Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Judges Association and Women’s Bar Association of Illinois are teaming up for three times the fun at Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS) 19th annual Race Judicata Sprint for Justice 5K Run/Walk. This fundraising event takes place on Sept. 13 at Upper Hutchinson Field in Chicago’s Grant Park.
T-shirts will be provided for team members. All proceeds from Race Judicata go to the general operating costs of CVLS, which works to provide legal services to the poor and working poor of Chicago. The three associations will host a tent that will serve as the main gathering point for ISBA, IJA and WBAI members. Food and water will be available at the tent. The entry fee is $33 through Sept. 7. The Illinois State Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division is kicking off its Professional Development Luncheons (PDLs) with a session titled “Getting Your Foot in the Door.” The program will be on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at noon at the Chicago Regional Office, 20 S. Clark Ste. 900.
The four part series is aimed at teaching law students and young attorneys practical steps in advancing their career. The first luncheon program features three esteemed panelists who will discuss how to get your first job or new job in the legal profession whether you are interested in working at a small firm, large firm, or for the government.

The Illinois State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division will host a Day at the Races on Saturday, Sept. 22 from noon-5 p.m. This networking and social event will be held at Arlington Park Racecourse in Arlington Heights.
Tickets are $8.50 per person and will be available for pickup at 11:15 a.m. on the day of the race at the Will Call Window, Grandstand Entrance. The ISBA group will be at the picnic tables located by the rail. Lunch is not included.
General Admission cost includes admission to the park and a daily racing guide, and a Fabulous Day of Thoroughbred racing!
