The Illinois State Bar Association’s Lawyer Finder Service provides referrals to local lawyers Mondays through Fridays. The Service makes referrals in a number of areas of law. For the month of October, 2024, ISBA helped 1,345 people in need of legal services find lawyers.

At the December 13, 2024, meeting of the ISBA Assembly, four “At-Large” Delegates to the ABA House of Delegates will be elected, two from Cook County and two from the area outside Cook County. The nominees for these positions must be members of the ISBA, in good standing, and from the appropriate area at the time the ABA term commences. The elected delegates will serve for two-year terms commencing June 2025 and will join the ISBA delegation in August at the ABA annual meeting in Toronto.

The Illinois State Bar Association's Cook County judicial ratings for the November 5, 2024, election are available online.
In Cook County, an ISBA Judicial Evaluations committee used the results of a questionnaire, background investigations, and in-person interviews to rate candidates for all judicial offices. Candidates for the Appellate Court outside of Cook County were also evaluated using this method.

The Illinois State Bar Association hosted the 2024 Solo and Small Firm Conference: Empowering Attorneys with Practice and Technology Tools on Sept. 19-20 at the I Hotel and Conference Center, 1900 South First Street, in Champaign.

Today, the Supreme Court of North Carolina entered an Order to permit lawyers licensed in other states but not in North Carolina to temporarily register with the North Carolina State Bar and begin immediately providing pro bono legal services to indigent residents of North Carolina who are victims of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Helene.

On Wednesday, September 25 at 5:30 pm, the Decalogue Society will host an evening with author, attorney, and MSNBC Analyst Jill Wine-Banks, author of The Watergate Girl: My Fight for Truth and Justice Against a Criminal President. The event will take place at The Arts Club of Chicago (201 E. Ontario). Co-sponsored by ISBA’s Standing Committee on Women and the Law. Tickets are $50 ($35 for ISBA members).
