Illinois Department of Central Management Services Seeks Assistant Labor Counsel

The Illinois Department of Central Management Services is seeking an assistant labor counsel in Chicago.

Responsibilities of the position include performing technical  and  legal  work  in  the  areas  of  labor  agreements  and  arbitration;  representing  the  state  in arbitration  hearings  and  before  the Illinois  Labor  Relations  Board;  reviewing  resolutions and  disciplinary  actions; recommending administrative action on labor relations issues; and carrying out public speaking assignments at off-site locations.

Land of Lincoln Legal Aid Seeks Staff Attorney

Land of Lincoln Legal Aid, a non-profit organization that provides free legal services to low-income individuals in central and southern Illinois, is seeking a staff attorney at the Northern Regional Office in Springfield.

The position includes representing victims of domestic violence in a variety of matters, including but not limited to orders of protection, civil no stalking orders, and divorces. The position also includes representation of low-income persons in routine and complex housing and consumer litigation and expungement cases, as well as participation in community legal education and outreach.

PILI seeks a managing attorney, who will serve as a member of PILI’s Programs Team, with primary responsibility for overseeing PILI’s statewide efforts to expand and enhance pro bono outside of the Chicago metropolitan area. This is a dynamic position that requires both the ability to organize and manage at a high level, while also being actively engaged in administration and implementation. The ability to do regular and significant statewide travel, and limited national travel, is required.  

U.S. Attorney's Office Seeks Assistant U.S. Attorneys

The U.S. Attorney's Office Southern District of Illinois is accepting applications for assistant United States attorney openings in its Criminal Division in Benton and Fairview Heights.

Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least one year of post-J.D. legal experience. U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred qualifications include admission to the Illinois bar and three years of post-J.D. litigation experience.

Two Cook County Circuit Court Judicial Vacancies Announced

Applications are now being accepted for judicial vacancies in the Tenth and Eighth Subcircuits of Cook County, according to an announcement made by the Illinois Supreme Court.

The vacancy of the Tenth Subcircuit judicial position was created by the retirement of Judge Thomas Allen. The vacancy of the Eighth Subcircuit judicial position was created by the retirement of Judge John Fleming.

Office of the State Appellate Defender Seeks Assistant Appellate Defenders

The Office of the State Appellate Defender has openings for the position of assistant appellate defender in Springfield and Mt. Vernon.

The position will provide criminal appellate representation to indigent clients. Responsibilities include reading records, conducting research, drafting briefs and other documents, and presenting oral arguments.

Three Cook County Circuit Court Judicial Vacancies Announced

Applications are now being accepted for judicial vacancies in the Thirteenth Subcircuit, Seventh Subcircuit, and First Subcircuit of Cook County, according to an announcement made by the Illinois Supreme Court.

The vacancy of the Thirteenth Subcircuit judicial position was created by the resignation of Circuit Judge Margarita Kulys Hoffman. Judge Kulys Hoffman had served as a judge since 2006. Her resignation took effect Dec. 31, 2017. 

The vacancy of the Seventh Subcircuit judicial position was created by the retirement of Circuit Judge Marianne Jackson. Judge Jackson had served as a judge since 1997. Her resignation took effect Dec. 31, 2018. 

The vacancy of the First Subcircuit judicial position was created by the death of Rhonda Crawford on April 26, 2018.

Judicial Council of the Seventh Circuit Seeks Applicants for Bankruptcy Judge

The Judicial Council of the Seventh Circuit is seeking applicants for a bankruptcy judge position for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois with duty station in Chicago.

Applicants must also be willing to travel to other locations in the Seventh Circuit to handle cases. Interested applicants may obtain an application by accessing the Court of Appeals website.

Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission Seeking Part-Time Law Clerk

The Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) is seeking a part-time law clerk beginning January 2019.

The law clerk’s responsibilities include conducting legal research and preparing memoranda/pleadings regarding all areas of law for the litigation division of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. There is potential for a third-year law student with a 711 license to assist in presenting evidence during hearing matters, including depositions and witness testimony, under the supervision of an attorney.
