    John C. Mullen 1922-2018

    John C. Mullen, 95, died May 1, 2018. He was born December 24, 1922, in Chicago to George Martin Mullen and Mary Frances Mullen (nee Faulkner). 

    He married Mary Florence McKenna on October 22, 1944. They were married for 57 years until her death in 2002. 

    Mr. Mullen was a successful trial lawyer with Mullen Law Offices in Chicago. He served as an aviator in the U.S. Marines from 1943 until 1946 during World War II, achieving the rank of first lieutenant. He graduated from Loyola University and DePaul University College of Law.

    Hon. William G. Pileggi 1950-2018

    Hon. William G. Pileggi, 67, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018. He was born December 9, 1950.

    After graduating from Lewis College, Bill began teaching in the Chicago Public Schools. Later, he went on to Kent College of Law and graduated with honors. He later became an assistant state’s attorney and eventually started his own law practice in Chicago. Bill was also a founding partner of Greater Illinois Title Company and served as a supervising judge for the Housing Division in the Circuit Court of Cook County.

    Richard O. Hart 1927-2018

    Richard O. Hart, 90, died Monday, March 12, 2018, in St. Louis. He was born December 13, 1927.

    Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Carolyn Hart, of Benton; two sons, Murphy C. Hart and wife, Jody, of Benton, Paul R. Hart and wife, Kim, of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren, Ryan Hart of South Bend, Ind., Caleb Hart of Benton, Ali Herndon and husband, Dallas, of Tampa, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, Ruby Herndon; a niece, Janice Legendre and husband, Roger, of Johnston City; a nephew, James Hart and wife, Jayna, of Benton; Mr. Hart’s longtime assistant, Edie Jones and husband, John, of Benton.

    John Horeled 1951-2018
    John Horeled

    John J. Horeled, 66, of Crystal Lake and a lifelong resident of McHenry County, died Thursday, May 3, 2018. He was born November 1, 1951, in Harvard to Joseph and Helen (nee Keeley) Horeled. 

    John graduated from Marion Central High School in 1969. He later graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in economics in 1973. John then graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1976. John practiced law in McHenry County for over 42 years. He was involved in the Illinois State Bar Association for 40 years and was also involved in several section councils and task forces.

    Ruthe Howes-Palacios 1963-2018
    Ruthe Howes-Palacios

    Ruthe Ann Howes-Palacios, 55, of Des Plaines, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at her home after a long illness. She was born March 21, 1963, in Peoria. 

    She graduated from Bradford High School, Illinois Central College, University of Illinois, and then earned her law degree from Northern Illinois University Law School. She was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.

    She married Juvenal Palacios on October 3, 1998. She worked for five years at Illinois Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission and 19 years at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

    Edward R. McCormick, Jr. 1947-2018
    Edward McCormick Jr.

    Edward (Ed) R. McCormick, Jr., 70, of Homewood, died Monday, February 19, 2018. He was born March 15, 1947.

    Ed grew up in Chicago and moved to Steger with his parents, the late Edward (Dick) and the late Margaret (Peg) McCormick. He worked on the family chicken farm as a young boy. He graduated from St. Liborius in 1961 and Marian Catholic High School in 1965. 

    He received an associate degree from Bloom Community College in 1967 and a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University in 1970. After graduating, Ed was a history teacher at St. Mary's grade school in Park Forest.

    Glenn Owen Fuller 1930-2018
    Glenn Fuller

    Glenn Owen Fuller, 87, died Sunday, April 29, 2018. He was born July 19, 1930, in Joliet. 

    Glenn served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1961. He attended Illinois State University for his undergraduate studies then graduated from the University of Michigan with a law degree. 

    He worked briefly in the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office before transitioning to private practice as a criminal defense attorney. He practiced law in Decatur for more than 50 years.

    Michael Murer 1943-2018

    Michael Anton Murer, 74, of Homer Glen and Begur, Spain, died Monday, April 30, 2018. He was born September 3, 1943, in Joliet to Sergio Arthur and Helen Eileen (nee Bolos) Murer. 

    He was a graduate of Purdue University and Georgetown University Law School. In his early career, Mr. Murer practiced law and served as a public defender. In 1985, he and his wife, Cherilyn, founded Murer Consultants, Inc., one of the nation's leading health care, regulatory, and management consulting firms, where he served as managing partner. They retired in January of 2017.

    Kenneth Meyers 1944-2018
    Judge Kenneth Meyers

    Judge Kenneth J. Meyers, 74, of Mount Vernon, Ill., died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at his home in Mount Vernon. He was born February 25, 1944, in Gary, Ind., to Charles J. and Luella (Krone) Meyers. 

    He first married Susan Robbins on June 19, 1965, in Mattoon, Ill., and she preceded him in death on October 24, 2012. He later married Mindy E. (Bumpus) Koch on December 14, 2013, in Mount Vernon, and she survives.

    Judge Meyers is survived by his wife, Mindy E. Meyers of Mount Vernon; daughter, Angela Kniery and husband, Dr. Paul Kniery of Bowling Green, Ky.; son, Greg Meyers of Edwardsville, Ill.; five grandchildren, Sam Kniery, Joe Kniery, Bridget Kniery, Alex Meyers, and Evan Meyers; stepsons, Kraig Koch and wife, Ashley of Chicago, Ill. and Brian Edward “Ed” Koch of Saint Louis, Mo.; brothers, Terry Meyers and wife, Darla of Kankakee, Ill. and Bill Meyers and wife, Carolyn of North Carolina; sister, Betty Logan of Effingham, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

    Jonathan G. Bunge 1936-2018

    Jonathan G. Bunge, 81, died April 10, 2018. He was born October 20, 1936, is La Crosse, Wis.

    In 1954, he matriculated at Princeton University where he studied at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy, socialized as member of the Tiger Inn dining club, and served as an editor of the Daily Princetonian.

    After graduating with honors from Princeton, Jon moved on to Harvard Law School. He married Trudy (nee Shoemaker) in 1961. After graduating with honors from law school, Jon was drafted and served in the U.S. Army.
