Mitchell R. Masalski, 78, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and CPD partner. 

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janett Masalski; their children Emily Masalski (Brian Chojnowski), Matthew Masalski, Loren Masalski, grandchildren Elsa and Jacob, nieces René Romero Schuler, Gina Kerschner, and nephew Jason Dardo. Preceded in death by his mother, Emily, father Matthew, sister Joan, mother-in-law Elsa, nieces Taña and Kristina.

He counsels publicly traded and closely held corporate and flow-through clients on complex tax matters, with a focus on applying strategic tax planning objectives to optimize client-specific opportunities.

On February 10, 2026, the Illinois State Bar Association was honored to support and sponsor the special reception celebrating Justice Mary Jane Theis upon her retirement from the Illinois Supreme Court. The reception was held at The Chicago Bar Association, 321 S. Plymouth Ct.
