    Marshall Auerbach 1932-2019

    Marshall J. Auerbach, 86, died Aug. 13, 2019, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

    Marshall was born Sept. 5, 1932, to the late Sadie and Sam Auerbach of Chicago.

    Marshall was a prominent matrimonial attorney in Illinois, winning all five appearances before the Illinois Supreme Court. He was the principal author of the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act in 1977 allowing for no-fault divorce. This was the state's first major revision of matrimonial law in more than a century. Marshall was a partner at Jenner & Block and subsequently founded his own law firm, Marshall J. Auerbach & Associates. He authored hundreds of articles, was a frequent lecturer, and was a former chair of the Illinois Bar Association’s Family Law Section.

Her asbestos litigation work has resulted in millions of dollars for the firm’s clients.

    Saper Law Immersion Program Held at ISBA Chicago Regional Office

    Saper Law is hosting its Saper Law Immersion Program on Aug. 12-16. The firm hosted an event at the Chicago Regional Office on Aug. 13.

    The program offers high school and college students the opportunity to explore legal career paths in one week. The curriculum consists of negotiation and writing exercises, field trips to state and federal courthouses, and mock legal proceedings.

    John A. Janicik, 62, born to Albert and Eileen Janicik, died Aug. 8, 2019, following a month-long courageous battle after complications from heart surgery.

    Devoted husband of Candie Janicik (nee: Henson) for 36 years. Loving father of Sarah (Dave) Grady, Mark (Sarah) Janicik, Rachel (Connor) Powers and cherished grandfather of Ella Janicik. Treasured brother of Thomas Janicik, James (Mary Jo) Janicik and Kathleen (Steve) Ryan. Dear uncle and cousin to many.
