QUINCY – [May 2026] – The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) has announced that Jim Hansen, a partner at Schmiedeskamp Robertson Neu & Mitchell LLP, has accepted an invitation to join the IADC, the preeminent invitation-only global legal organization for attorneys who represent corporate and insurance interests.
The Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) is now offering a health insurance plan exclusively for individual & solo practitioner members of the ISBA.
The names of seven new associate judges, selected in a vote of Cook County Circuit Court judges, were announced by Marcia M. Meis, Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts.

Judges, clerks, and court staff are using artificial intelligence (AI), but they are by no means bullish about employing the technology in court. The ISBA hosted a symposium this March in which judges discussed the ways AI is affecting the administration of justice. The program, titled “The Judiciary, Legal Academia, and Artificial Intelligence Going Forward,” was sponsored by the ISBA sections on Federal Civil Practice and Civil Practice & Procedure. A digest of the all-day program is featured in the Illinois Bar Journal’s May issue.
