For much of the history of the Illinois judicial system, personal service has been plaintiffs’ preferred method of serving respondents and defendants. This method has proven to work well in most cases. But what about defendants who actively evade service or have even left the state, asks Jessica A. Pullen in her April Illinois Bar Journal article, “Social Service.”

Voting is now underway in the 2024 ISBA Election. The last day to request a paper ballot is April 15, 2024. ISBA's election provider Election-America emailed e-ballots to members with valid email addresses on March 27. All members of the Association (except non-lawyer members) with dues paid by March 1, 2024 are eligible to vote. The deadline for voting is Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. CT

The Illinois Supreme Court announced today the appointment of 12 judges in the Circuit Court of Cook County. These appointments were made out of public necessity in order to ensure an adequate level of judicial staffing.
