John C. Mullen 1922-2018

John C. Mullen, 95, died May 1, 2018. He was born December 24, 1922, in Chicago to George Martin Mullen and Mary Frances Mullen (nee Faulkner). 

He married Mary Florence McKenna on October 22, 1944. They were married for 57 years until her death in 2002. 

Mr. Mullen was a successful trial lawyer with Mullen Law Offices in Chicago. He served as an aviator in the U.S. Marines from 1943 until 1946 during World War II, achieving the rank of first lieutenant. He graduated from Loyola University and DePaul University College of Law. 

He was active in many organizations, including the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and Illinois State Bar Association, and served as president for both. He engaged in fundraising for Holy Name Cathedral for many years and was a strong supporter of Misericordia. His wife, Mary Florence, and his daughter, Janie, were the center of his life. Other passions included his family, raising thoroughbred race horses, fishing and spending time at his farm in Woodstock, IL. 

He is survived by his six children, Chris (Maggie), Brian (Irene), Ann (Frank), Janie, Mari, and Michael; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, George ("Bud") Mullen; his parents, George and Mary; Aunt Jane Byrne (Faulkner); and his wife Mary Florence.
