ISBA Solo & Individual Health Plan Update for 2027 Open Enrollment

As we move into the 2027 open enrollment season, we are pleased to share an important update regarding the health insurance options available to ISBA members in solo practice.

Providing access to high-quality, affordable health coverage remains a key priority for the Illinois State Bar Association. As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering strong value and meaningful benefits to our members, we continuously evaluate the marketplace to ensure our health plan offerings remain competitive and responsive to members' needs.

For the 2027 plan year, we are excited to announce that the ISBA Solo & Individual Health Plan will be transitioning back to Cigna. This change is driven primarily by the ability to provide more competitive pricing while enhancing overall coverage. Working closely with our trusted benefits partner, KeyRisk Underwriters, who carefully reviewed available options and determined that the new Cigna plans offer richer benefits and greater value than the projected renewal rates for our current solo plans.

Members enrolled in the current Anthem BCBS network plan will have the option to remain with their existing coverage or transition to one of the new Cigna plans. Those members have already been notified of their available options and enrollment choices.

Please note that this update applies only to the Solo & Individual Health Plan. Evaluation of the ISBA Group Health Plan is still underway, and additional information will be communicated as soon as it becomes available.

To support the enrollment process, our enrollment portal has been updated with the new plan designs, benefits summaries, and premium information. We encourage members to review these materials carefully and explore the options available for 2027.
