Instead, energy drink labels follow the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) guidelines. Under DSHEA, energy drinks face lax labeling regulations, which leaves consumers unaware of the dangers of high caffeine contents, stimulative additives, proprietary blends, and excessive sugar.
